Former Pakistani off spinner Akram Raza has been captured on allegation of gambling on recent Indian Premier League matches in Lahore on Sunday, reports AFP. The 46-years-old Akram Raza was among one of seven men arrested from a jam packed Lahore shopping region while Punjab police investigated a group of bookmakers who were taking unlawful stake.
"Seven men were arrested after a information that they were taking of bets on IPL [ Indian Premier League] matches, and one of them has been recognized as Raza, a former Pakistani player," a police officer at Gulberg police station said AFP.
 Akram Raza, who participated nine Tests and 49 ODIs for Pakistan, was one of the six players Pakistan players fined in a match-fixing inquiry conducted by Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum in 2000. Raza presently perform official duties as an umpire in Pakistan's domestic matches.
Police told they have been able to rescue telephones, computers, televisions and a large amount of money in the opertion, from them and going to charge these accused men shortly on Sunday.
